De esta manera, el investigador de la Universidad Cat\u00f3lica del Maule (UCM), Ismael Vera-Puerto y uno de los investigadores principales del proyecto ANID Sequ\u00eda \u201cHumedales Depuradores: Reutilizando agua para la agricultura\u201d ilustra la grave ausencia de soluciones para la sequ\u00eda en el pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn el caso de las zonas rurales no hay cifras sobre reutilizaci\u00f3n y eso es cr\u00edtico, ya que han sido los m\u00e1s afectados por la escasez de agua. En pa\u00edses como Israel, la reutilizaci\u00f3n del agua residual corresponde al 80%\u201d, manifest\u00f3 el experto en tratamiento de aguas residuales, que ofreci\u00f3 una charla magistral en Talca el pasado 11 de agosto.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa idea es introducir la reutilizaci\u00f3n de aguas residuales, que figura como un tema emergente en Chile. Uno de los desaf\u00edos es que se necesita es diversificar la matriz h\u00eddrica y no depender solo de fuentes naturales. En este sentido, hay alternativas como la reutilizaci\u00f3n, es decir, darle un segundo uso al agua, y la desalinizaci\u00f3n. La soluci\u00f3n al problema de escasez debe tener una mirada multidimensional\u201d, coment\u00f3 el acad\u00e9mico de la UCM, valorando adem\u00e1s el equipo multidisciplinario de diversas universidades que conforman el consorcio que se adjudic\u00f3 este Fondo Estrat\u00e9gico en Sequ\u00eda del Ministerio de Ciencia.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando se trata de sequ\u00eda, el escenario en Chile se torna cada vez m\u00e1s escalofriante. Estimaciones de distintas agencias sostienen que al 2050 el agua disminuir\u00e1 en un 40 por ciento en ciertos puntos del pa\u00eds, que en un 72% de su superficie ya sufre de\u00a0escasez h\u00eddrica\u00a0en alg\u00fan grado.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSi nos enfocamos en el mundo rural, se deben considerar propuestas de tratamiento que sean sostenibles en el largo plazo. Una opci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica que trabajamos en la UCM y en este proyecto son las soluciones basadas en la naturaleza y particularmente nos hemos enfocado en humedales construidos, que corresponden a sistemas de ingenier\u00eda dise\u00f1ados y construidos para mejorar la calidad de las aguas residuales, bas\u00e1ndose en las interacciones naturales entre vegetaci\u00f3n, medios de soporte y bacterias\u201d, indic\u00f3 Vera-Puerto.<\/p>\n<p>Los humedales construidos, de uso extendido en pa\u00edses como Francia, Rep\u00fablica Checa, Portugal, Austria, Holanda y Alemania,\u00a0pueden articularse como una posibilidad viable para depurar agua. \u201cUn humedal construido en simple es un medio controlado, que requiere un dise\u00f1o de ingenier\u00eda, donde se genera una zona h\u00fameda a la que se le instala vegetaci\u00f3n.
